Heads (2000-2004)

Terracotta head studies are less focused upon likeness, but rather my passion for discovering the character of each individual. Sculpting people present in my life became a way of capturing the human landscape of my experience. After the initial sitting in which I sculpted from observation, I would continue to to work on it over the following months. Working from memory, I searched for design aspects of each sitter that facilitated a sensation of recognition for all viewers, including those without knowledge of that individual.
